One Percent, One at a Time

The chief purpose of every church should be to glorify almighty God. He seeks humble worshippers who will rejoice in who He is and what He has done. This is God’s appointed end. But what is God’s appointed means to this end?

In Luke 15:10 Jesus says, “I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” If you’ve ever been a part of leading someone to faith in Christ, you know that there is rejoicing in heaven and on earth when someone crosses from death to life. There is also indescribable joy when, in a discipling relationship with another believer, you see them take tangible steps toward becoming more like Jesus. It’s in moments like these that a kind of joy- infused fuel is thrown on the fire of our hearts, and we can’t help but worship!

The mission God has given our church plant is to “Increase joy in Jesus among our neighbors and the nations,” and we believe that this will happen as every member of our church takes on the responsibility of making disciples. We also believe that as members lead others to faith in Christ, and these new believers then take on the disciple-making task, gospel joy is multiplied. This is Jesus’ ordained means to bring Himself and the Father glory through the church – every member a disciple-maker.

So, I regularly ask myself and our church plant team members, “Who’s your one?” Who is at least one person you are actively seeking to share the gospel with? And I’m so proud of how our team has taken on this challenge! I hear almost daily of how God is using their gospel conversations to push back spiritual darkness in Windsor, Colorado.

In the process of discovering this vision for our church, though, we had another “one” put on our hearts. We felt compelled to begin to pray that God would use our church over the next 5 years to decrease lostness in Windsor by 1%. One percent may not seem like much, but that would mean over 300 new followers of Jesus. This may well be the most audacious thing I’ve ever dared ask the Father. Yet I know He is able to do immeasurable more than even this!

Would you join us in asking the Father to use Christ Church to decrease lostness in our town by 1%? And would you pray that God would multiply disciple-making one person at a time?

Here’s what coming up over the next 6 months:

A 3-Month Transition to CO

This past Sunday, May 6, our team was commissioned by our home church, Christ Baptist, and this week begins our 3-month transition to Colorado. Here’s what it looks like:

  • The Frankses close on their home in Raleigh this Friday and move to Western NC until their home in Windsor is completed (late July or early August).
  • The Bohnkes begin their 2-3 week journey from Raleigh to Windsor on May 31, visiting friends and family along the way.
  • The Pitmans fly to Colorado June 18, where their home is waiting.
  • The Dukes begin their 2 week journey to CO June 30, also visiting family and friends along the way.

Please pray…
…that the Bohnkes and Dukes will find housing in or near our target area.
…that our team members would find creative ways to encourage each other while we’re apart these 3 months.
…pray for all of our children, as this is an especially challenging time of transition for them.

Moving Time!

HERE IS OUR LATEST VIDEO UPDATE.

Over the next 3 months, each of our church plant team families will be moving to northern Colorado. Here are some ways you can support us during this time of transition:

1. PRAY for the Franks and Pitman families as they travel to northern CO the first two weeks of April to look for homes. The Duke family will be there June 5-8 for the same purpose. *The Duke family’s last Sunday at Christ Baptist will be June 24, and they’ll be loading their moving container June 28-30.

2. PRAY for the Bohnke family as they continue their job search.

3. HELP the Franks load their storage container April 2. If you can help, email: andy@christbaptist.org or contact the Franks directly.

4. HELP by donating moving boxes and packing tape to our team. *Please let Andy know if you want to drop boxes or tape off at his office.

Thank you so much for your continued support!
